Congratulations to Tsega and Getachew, who recently wrapped up their family’s 300 hours of sweat equity helping to build their future home in Malden!

Her accomplishment is also a major milestone for the Malden project, with all five families having completed their hours either on the build site or helping in Habitat Greater Boston’s ReStore in West Roxbury. Together, the future Malden homeowners have put in 1,450 hours toward making their dream of affordable homeownership a reality.

Since they first picked up hammers and hard hats in April 2023, the Malden families have been a source of inspiration to staff and volunteers, both on the build site and the ReStore. They’ve worked through the summer heat, snow, wind, and rain, always bringing enthusiasm, smiles, and even meals to share with the crew.

The families can now take a well-earned break while construction wraps up in the coming months and look forward to becoming homeowners.
