When it comes to building affordable homes for hardworking families in Greater Boston, volunteers get it done. We celebrate our dedicated volunteers every day, and National Volunteer Month is an opportunity to say a special thank-you to all those who join us on our build sites around the region.

Volunteers are at the heart of what we do at Habitat Greater Boston,” said President and CEO James Kostaras. “The enthusiasm, dedication, and positivity they bring to our build sites is a source of inspiration. It’s impossible to overstate the impact of helping a family build their future home.”

More than 70% of the labor that goes into building Habitat Greater Boston homes comes from the generous volunteers who make our work possible. From college students who’ve never swung a hammer before to expert tradespeople, these individuals and their employers donate their time and labor to make affordable homeownership a reality for the families who partner with us.

So far in 2023, more than 280 individuals and 20 employers have helped build future homes for seven families in Malden and Boston’s Mission Hill neighborhood Though they may differ in age, religious affiliation, and lived experiences, our volunteers are all united by a common desire to serve. Their participation and dedication is the most valuable tool in our toolbox.

If you’ve volunteered with us in the past, we hope to see you back on one of our build sites soon! Click here for more information on how you can help make a family’s dream of affordable homeownership a reality.
