Help families struggling because of the COVID-19 pandemic
A crisis for our families…
Habitat families have been hit hard by the COVID-19 crisis. Many are dealing with job losses or reductions in hours in their work as parking attendants, hotel workers, and child care providers. Others who are front-line workers have incurred increased child care expenses and other costs that stretch their paychecks to the limit and beyond.
These financial burdens leave many families struggling to make ends meet and unable to make their mortgage payments to Habitat.
Others are left waiting for construction to finish on their houses. Five new families were supposed to move in this summer. But the pandemic brought construction to a halt. Things are slowly getting back on track but our families are stuck in unhealthy, overcrowded apartments. Two boys sharing one twin mattress… A family of six in a two-bedroom apartment… Another family in a building scheduled for demolition… They all deserve better.
From homebuyer classes to nearly 1,500 hours of sweat equity, these families held up their end of this partnership. And now we need your help to give them a safe, healthy place to call home.
A crisis for our organization…
The current pandemic is having an unimaginable impact on our ability to raise funds and support our families. From the loss of income from mortgage payments and corporate build groups, to the unavoidable cancellation of our largest fundraiser, the effects are crippling.
These unprecedented losses threaten our long-term stability.
A challenge for us all…
Recognizing the gravity of this situation, our board of directors and fundraising committee pledged $125,000 in funding if we raise $125,000 (or more!) from supporters like you.
Will you support our Crisis Relief Challenge?
Your generosity will ease the financial burden on our homeowners and ensure Habitat is still here to assist more families after the pandemic.
Now more than ever, we need your support.
Together, we can meet this challenge and raise more than $250,000 in funding for crisis relief.
