Assistant Site Supervisor

Position Assistant Site Supervisor, Full-time hourly, non-exempt.

Schedule (days/times) Tuesday-Saturday, 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM, occasional overtime may be required.

Reporting to the Manager of Construction Operations and following daily directions from the Site Supervisor, this position is responsible for leading volunteer groups to complete building activities at one of our construction sites. Construction experience is not required to apply for this position, but a willingness to learn and work as part of a team is.

We will be opening new sites soon and currently have multiple openings. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until roles are filled.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead groups of volunteers in hands-on construction tasks.
  • Create a welcoming, informative, and safe environment for all volunteers and visitors.
  • Assist with construction tasks including, but not limited to, demolition, site prep, framing, insulation, drywall, flooring, roofing, finish carpentry and landscaping. Projects may include new and rehab homes.
  • Maintain site safety through modeling of safety practices and guidelines, volunteer education, and site monitoring.
  • Attend safety trainings as required.
  • Commitment to Habitat for Humanity Greater Boston’s mission of building simple, decent, affordable houses for purchase by low income families.
  • Commitment to working with an organization that emphasizes diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • During slower periods or between projects there may be a need to serve as an Assistant on other projects or fill in at the ReStore.

Education/Experience/Knowledge/Skills

Skills:

  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people.
  • Experience working with volunteers or teaching/group facilitation experience preferred.
  • Willingness to promote the mission and activities of Habitat for Humanity.

Physical requirements:

  • Ability to be on one’s feet for extended periods of time, often on rough and uneven terrain.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Ability to work on ladders and heights of up to two-stories.
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions.

Construction Site Environment

Construction sites are active construction sites with uneven terrain. This position will work both indoors and outdoors during all types of weather. Construction tools will be provided.
