Runner's Story:

What a great opportunity to combine two of my interests – Habitat for Humanity and running. In 2000, I had the opportunity to go to Cochabamba, Bolivia with a group from Boston. While there we participated in a Blitz Build and built 2 homes from the ground up in 2 weeks! My next dedicated build experience was in 2006 in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi – one of the towns hit directly by the eye of Hurricane Katrina. And within Massachusetts over the past 10 years, I’ve had the chance to volunteer in the Boston Habitat office as well as at some local build sites. On the running side, my interest in the sport really started in 2003. Since that time I have run three marathons (Disney World, Chicago, and Boston) and am looking forward to making it four.

Competing in a marathon and owning a Habitat home have many commonalities. Both give you an incredible sense of pride, achievement, and self confidence. And, while I’ll be sweating it out on the roads, potential new Habitat homeowners will be giving their “sweat equity” to put a new roof over their heads. I’m very excited to be partnering with Habitat as a member of the marathon team. Thank you in advance for any financial support you can give. By doing so, you are helping me and Habitat make our goals a reality.
