American Dream Awards Breakfast

2008 American Dream Awards Breakfast
September 24, 2008, 8-10 am
The Wharf Room at the Boston Harbor Hotel

Each year, the American Dream Awards Breakfast event raises needed funds to support Habitat Greater Boston's work to eliminate poverty housing by building affordable homes with very low-income families. Along with steady employment and education, homeownership is one of the main components of the American dream, and one of the most important goals for long-term financial security. For many low-income families, Habitat homeownership provides not only a safe and stable place to live, but also a chance to break generational bonds of poverty.

The American Dream Awards are presented to men and women who have dedicated their lives to addressing issues of injustuce in the Greater Boston community.

Corporate sponsorships begin at $3,500 for a table of ten. All proceeds benefit the home building programs of Habitat for Humanity Greater Boston.

If you are interested in attending or sponsoring the event, please contact Duncan Remage-Healey at (617) 423-2223 or drhealey@habitatboston.org.

2006 American Dream Awards - October 17, 2006

The 2006 American Dream Awards Breakfast was held in the Wharf Room at the Boston Harbor Hotel. Habitat Greater Boston presented the 2006 American Dream Awards to Jack Kemp and Heather Campion for their support of Habitat for Humanity’s mission to end poverty housing. Attended by thirty different companies, from architecture to construction, financial to real estate, this wonderful event would not have been a success without the support of all of our Breakfast, Corporate and Table Sponsors- thank you!!

Jack Kemp, former secretary of Housing and Urban Development, U.S. Congressman, and quarterback of the Buffalo Bills, is now a member of Habitat for Humanity International’s Board of Directors. Mr. Kemp gave an inspiring speech about the importance of having a place to call home and his own experiences traveling the world and meeting members of the greater Habitat community.

Heather Campion, named one of the twenty most powerful women in Boston by Boston Magazine, is responsible for media relations, public affairs, corporate giving, and governmental relations at the holding company level at Citizens Bank. In her acceptance speech, Ms. Campion discussed the significant role that Habitat Greater Boston plays in combating the ever-increasing escalation of housing prices and shortage in affordable housing, and how Citizens Bank partners with Habitat to accomplish this goal.

Also honored were five outstanding volunteers who have significantly contributed their time and effort to Habitat Greater Boston: Paul Bledsoe, Alexis Carena, Jim Ciotti, Susan Evans and Nancy Rider.

Thanks to all of you that made this year’s American Dream Awards Breakfast such a wonderful event!
